As you may have seen last week, I am delighted that the government has confirmed that that we have secured £20 million funding for Weston though the government’s Plan for Neighbourhoods.
That’s going to amount to £2 million funding every year for Weston, particularly the areas concentrated around the Weston housing estates, for the next ten years.
It’s not going to be for politicians in London to decide how exactly this money is spent. Local people will play a key role in deciding how it’s used. To kick-start this process, I’m asking residents and businesses in Weston to tell me what matters most to them – and how they think this once-in-a-generation funding should be used.
This is just the first step in this exciting journey. In time. the fund will rely on local people coming together to decide how to spend the money, with decision-making put in the hands of an independent board of the MP, local councillors, community leaders and residents.
Please fill in my short online survey by clicking here. It should take less than 10 minutes, and by speaking up together, we can make sure this funding delivers for every part of our community in Weston.
